Kalispell Police Department Press Release: Emery Bay Campground Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation On May 29, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Kalispell Police Department was requested by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred at Emery Bay Campground near Hungry Horse Reservoir. Deputies from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office had responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon at the campground prior to the shooting. The individual involved in the incident has been identified as 57-year-old Kalispell resident Kenneth Ardagna. Mr. Ardagna was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained during the incident.

The Kalispell Police Department is in the preliminary stages of this investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and when appropriate to do so.
