Governor Gianforte Concludes Fifth Annual 56 County Tour

HELENA, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte this year concluded his fifth annual 56 County Tour as governor. Launching the tour in May, the governor met with Montanans in each of the state’s 56 counties.

 

Gov. Gianforte traveled thousands of miles meeting with Montanans where they live and work, including small business owners, parents, students, teachers, veterans, leaders of Tribal Nations, law enforcement officers and first responders, health care professionals, tradesmen, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders and volunteers, farmers, ranchers, and local leaders, among others.

 

“As we close out another amazing year, it’s great to reflect on all of the Montanans we met with this year on our annual 56 County Tour,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Serving as Montana’s governor is the greatest honor of my life and being able to travel the state to recognize the people and places who make up this great state is a privilege.”

 

At the tour stops, the governor talked with Montanans about a wide range of issues important to them, including tax relief, housing, jobs, the economy, public safety, infrastructure, health care, value-added ag, forest management, tribal matters, and more.

Activities listed below are not a complete list of the governor’s events, but rather represent one tour stop per county. The governor has visited and held events in many counties more than once.

 

Anaconda-Deer Lodge County: Visited KLM Contracting to learn more about southwest Montana’s first automated firewood processing facility and highlight its support for the timber industry, Anaconda.

 

Beaverhead County: Met with Beaverhead County 4-H members ahead of the annual county fair and view their steer, sheep, and swine projects, Dillon.

 

Big Horn County: Held a roundtable discussion with law enforcement officers and first responders to receive an update on recent investments to update county dispatch units, Hardin.

Blaine County: Visited Kamas Ag Chemical to spotlight the family-owned business supporting farmers and ranchers, Chinook.

 

Broadwater County: Highlighted Goose Bay Handblown Glass as a family-owned business on main street that’s been open for over two decades, Townsend.

 

Butte-Silver Bow: visited Montana Precision Products to highlight GE Aerospace’s $2 million investment at its joint venture site, Butte

 

Carbon County: Held a ceremonial bill signing for House Bill 307, sponsored by Rep. Barker, R-Red Lodge, to recognize a new law that allows Montana hunters to donate his or her hunting licenses to disabled veterans, Red Lodge.

 

Carter County: Delivered the commencement speech at the Ekalaka High School graduation ceremony, Ekalaka.

Cascade County: Joined Sheriff Jessie Slaughter and Rep. Steve Fitzpatrick, R-Great Falls, to spotlight House Bill 323 which increased resources to counties to hire deputies, Great Falls.

 

Chouteau County: Held a bill signing ceremony to celebrate a new law that protects water users and improves water administration in Montana, Fort Benton.

 

Custer County: Joined the Montana Department of Commerce to unveil a new brand for the state of Montana and kick off the Bucking Horse Sale, Miles City.

 

Daniels County: Toured Cahill Seeds to highlight the legacy of the family-owned business that’s operated for over 30 years, Flaxville.

Dawson County: Visited Big Sky Butcher to highlight the meat processor and its recent investments in expansion, Glendive.

 

Fallon County: Received an update on the restoration of the Baker State Bank Building as an event space or site for a business, Baker.

 

Fergus County: Joined Rep. Randyn Gregg, R-White Sulphur Springs, for a bill signing ceremony in Lewistown to celebrate House Bill 778 which ensures consistency in Montana’s education laws for homeschooling, Lewistown.

 

Flathead County: Visited Flathead Electric to highlight the co-op and to hold a bill signing ceremony for House Bill 226, sponsored by Rep. Courtenay Sprunger, R-Kalispell, which establishes the Legal Employment and Government Accountability law to require employer verification for lawful employment in Montana, Kalispell.

 

Gallatin County: Toured Amaltheia Organic Dairy, a family-owned farm producing organic goat cheese and fresh vegetables, Belgrade.

 

Garfield County: Met with the small business owners and community members who make up the Grow Garfield Steering Committee, the group established to discuss ways to improve the county’s tourism industry thanks to the support of a $1.25 million grant from the Montana Department of Commerce, Jordan.

 

Glacier County: Visited the Halls Coulee siphon for a tour of the construction work to repair the aging infrastructure, Babb.

Golden Valley County: Ceremonially signed House Bill 591, sponsored by Rep. Greg Oblander, R-Billings, which establishes the last week of September as Freedom Week in Montana’s public schools for students to learn about the history and guiding documents of our state and country, Ryegate.

 

Granite County: Visited Drummond Schools to meet with teachers ahead of the 2025-2026 school year, Drummond.

 

Hill County: Met with law enforcement officers to discuss the rise of drug-related crime in the region, Havre.

 

Jefferson County: Toured the Riverside Facility to recognize the state’s latest investment to improve Montana correctional facilities and expand capacity, Boulder.

 

Judith Basin County: Visited the fairgrounds to receive an update from the Stanford community on the progress of the remodeled rodeo grounds and other projects, Stanford.

 

Lake County: Visited Rocky Mountain Twist, an industry leader in design, engineering, and manufacturing of high-performance cutting tools, Ronan.

 

Lewis and Clark County: Highlight two new laws sponsored by Rep. Llew Jones, R-Conrad, that bolster Montana’s resources to fight wildfire, Lincoln.

 

Liberty County: Met with ranchers and owners of the Basin Coulee Cattle Company and Treasure State Meats to highlight their ranch and business operation, Chester.

 

Lincoln County: Visited the Hoot Owl Farm in Libby to highlight the family-run farm and their certified organic operation growing a diverse mix of produce, Libby

Madison County: Highlighted recent investments in historic preservation projects and the opportunity for interested parties to establish long-term leases on historic buildings, Virginia City.

 

McCone County: Toured Circle H Nutrition to spotlight the family-owned business supplying local ranchers with minerals, vaccines, and more, Circle.

 

Meagher County: Highlighted Senate Bill 211, Sen. Wylie Galt, R-Martinsdale, a bill that reforms the Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) to protect the environment, cut red tape, and provide certainty to businesses and Montana’s energy sector, White Sulphur Springs.

 

Mineral County: Visited Big Sky Forest Products to highlight the strength of Montana’s forest products industry and celebrated a new law sponsored by Rep. Denley Loge, R-St. Regis, that supports timber production facilities and reduces wildfire risk, Superior.

 

Missoula County: Highlighted Montana’s wildfire, preparedness, and response efforts and unveiled a new, redesigned 2.0 wildland fire engine, Missoula.

 

Musselshell County: Visited the Signal Peak Energy coal mine to celebrate new federal orders from the Trump administration that support Montana’s coal industry, Roundup.

 

Park County: Toured the Wilcoxson’s Ice Cream production facility that produces ice cream for local eateries and grocery stores throughout most of Montana, Livingston.

 

Petroleum County: Visited the Brady Ranch and highlighted the ag producers for their regenerative agriculture practices, Winnett.

 

Phillips County: Met with members of the Ranchers Stewardship Alliance to learn more about the organization’s support for rural communities and Montana’s farmers and ranchers, Malta.

 

Pondera County: Joined Rep. Llew Jones, R-Conrad, to celebrate bills that increase support for Montana’s volunteer firefighters, Conrad.

 

Powder River County: Hosted a town hall meeting with ranchers, firefighters, first responders, and community members, Broadus.

 

Powell County: Recognized legislative investments to establish wildlife crossings in Montana, Jens.

 

Prairie County: Met with small business owners to discuss measures passed in the legislative session, Terry.

 

Ravalli County: Toured the new SemiLink Materials manufacturing facility, Stevensville.

 

Richland County: Held bill signing ceremony to recognize licensing reform for contractors in the construction industry, Sidney.

 

Roosevelt County: Visited Wolf Point High School to celebrate recent investments to raise starting teacher pay, Wolf Point.

 

Rosebud County: Toured the Forsyth water treatment plant, Forsyth.

Sanders County: Visited the Mount Silcox Wildlife Management Area and joined Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to recognize a new Montana law that expands recreational opportunities for apprentice trappers and hunters, Thompson Falls.

 

Sheridan County: Held a bill signing ceremony to highlight licensing reforms passed during the 2025 legislative session, Plentywood.

 

Stillwater County: Visited Sunshine Bee Apiary, a family-owned operation producing honey and other bee products since the 1980s, Columbus.

 

Sweet Grass County: Met with law enforcement officers, treatment providers, and community members to discuss the Angel Initiative, a program to help Montanans struggling with substance use disorder., Big Timber.

 

Teton County: Visited Fairfield High School to ceremonially sign House Bill 252, sponsored by Rep. Jones, and celebrate the STARS Act for increasing starting teacher pay and expanding opportunities for Montana students., Fairfield.

 

Toole County: Met with Montana Grain Growers Association members to discuss ag priorities, Shelby.

 

Treasure County: Spotlighted a new family-owned business, the River Bottom Bar & Grill, Hysham.

 

Valley County: Celebrated a new law that increases upland bird hunting opportunities for Montana residents, Hinsdale.

 

Wheatland County: Highlighted the success of Montana’s Registered Apprenticeship program at Crazy Mountain Veterinary Service, Harlowton.

 

Wibaux County: Met with county officials to tour the repaired Carlyle Bridge, Wibaux.

 

Yellowstone County: Celebrated the opening of Rodeo Billings at MetraPark, Billings.
