HELENA—This week marks Kids’ Chance of Montana (KCMT) Awareness Week, a time to recognize and support the organization’s mission to provide educational scholarships to the children of Montana workers who have been seriously injured or killed on the job. KCMT is a chapter of Kids’ Chance of America (KCOA). Today, there is a Kids’ Chance chapter in all fifty U.S. states with the first Kids’ Chance chapter being founded in 1988, and Montana’s chapter beginning in 2017.
Governor Greg Gianforte has issued an official proclamation (attached) declaring this week as Kids’ Chance Awareness Week in Montana, acknowledging the organization’s vital role in helping affected families rebuild their futures through education.
Since its founding, Kids’ Chance of Montana has awarded scholarships to a multitude of deserving students, helping them pursue college degrees, trade certifications, and other post-secondary opportunities that may otherwise have been out of reach.
“At Kids’ Chance of Montana, we believe that when a worker is injured, the entire family is impacted — and education can be a powerful part of that family’s recovery,” said Rob Virts, President of Kids’ Chance of Montana. “This week is about shining a light on the students we serve, the generosity of our donors, and the employers, workers, and communities who make our mission possible.”
During Awareness Week, KCMT is encouraging Montanans to learn more about its scholarship program, refer eligible students, and join its Partners for the Future initiative — a statewide effort to identify and support families who may qualify for help.
