Join the University of Montana for a vibrant Homecoming celebration with a variety of festivities Oct. 7-11, culminating in the Grizzlies football matchup against Cal Poly.
This year’s homecoming theme is “Party Like It’s 1995,” a nod to the Grizzlies’ first national title 30 years ago.
Homecoming is a special time of year on campus – a week when alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members gather together to celebrate their Griz pride. Some Homecoming highlights include:
- Hello Walk: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, outside Turner Hall. Join students, faculty, staff and alumni in creatively painting “hello” on the campus sidewalk. Paint and brushes will be provided.
- Distinguished Alumni Awards: 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, in the University Center Ballroom. The UM Alumni Association will honor outstanding alumni who have distinguished themselves in a particular field and brought honor to the University, state or nation.
- Yell Night Pep Rally: 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, in front of Main Hall. Join the Homecoming festivities for a night of Griz celebration and spirit, including a bonfire, fireworks and lighting of the “M.” Coach Bobby Hauck, the Grizzly football team, the UM and alumni marching bands, spirit squad and Monte will all be in attendance.
- Homecoming Parade: 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, from downtown Missoula to the UM campus. The Homecoming Parade celebrates all the 1995 retro vibes, timeless Griz spirit and our vintage colors of copper, silver and gold. The parade will follow its historic route along Higgins Avenue, across the Bear Tracks Bridge and onto University Avenue.
- Alumni Tailgate: noon Saturday, Oct. 11, at the River Bowl. Food and drinks will be provided to the first 150 attendees. ID required.
