Democrats Commit to Putting Montanans First ByRestoring Freedom, Fairness, and Affordability.
HELENA– Pledging that Democrats will “Put Montanans First,” Senate Whip Shane Morigeau stated the Democrats’ mission “to bring back freedom, fairness, and affordability to every person, family, and business.”
“Montana has been under Republican leadership for decades and people’s lives have not gotten better. Republicans have raised property taxes, cut taxes for our biggest corporations, and are trying to take away our freedoms. Democrats are ready to turn the tide. It’s time to put Montanans first again.”
Democrats gained seats in both houses this last election cycle and they are pursuing a legislative agenda that promotes freedom, fairness, and affordability.
In regard to restoring freedom, Morigeau noted that “the far right attack on Montana Courts and our Constitution amounts to no more than putting their political agenda in front of the rights to freedom of speech, government transparency, religious freedom, and privacy for all Montanans. Democrats will put your rights first.”
In promoting a fairer state government, Morigeau expressed a commitment to bipartisanship, especially on potential shared priorities- tax reform and renewing Montana’s Medicaid for workers and caregivers.
For Democrats, “restoring fairness means a tax system where corporations pay their fair share and families, businesses, and communities can thrive. Montana’s Medicaid program should continue to provide access to affordable and quality healthcare.”
“Democratic proposals all focus on the need to make Montana affordable again. It’s unacceptable that people are literally quitting their jobs because they can’t afford childcare,” noted Morigeau.
