US 2 Rose Crossing to Glacier Airport project is complete

KALISPELL, Mont. – The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and LHC Inc.
have completed work on U.S. Highway 2 (US 2) between the Rose Crossing
intersection and the Glacier Park International Airport.
In 2025, crews removed and replaced the pavement, applied a seal and cover (chip
seal) and fog seal, upgraded curb ramps at the Rose Crossing intersection,
completed electrical upgrades at the Rose Crossing and Birch Grove Road
intersections, and added new shoulder rumble strips, pavement markings, signage,
and roadside delineators. Additionally, the Rose Crossing intersection sidewalks were
improved to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
This year, crews performed bump grinding to smooth some sections of the roadway
paved in 2025. This work took a few days to complete.
“We worked to minimize impacts to the traveling public throughout this project,” said
Ryan Paulsen, MDT Engineering Project Manager. “MDT and our contracting partner
LHC Inc. would like to thank the public for their patience during construction.”
The purpose of this project was to rehabilitate approximately 4 miles of US 2. This
corridor experiences significant daily traffic volumes, which over time, had worn down
and formed grooves in the driving lanes. This project addressed that wear and tear on
the road to extend its service life and provide a smoother driving surface.
